Actress Buhle Samuels is heartbroken
Actress Buhle Samuels has shared her heartbreak at seeing social grant recipients line up in groups to gather their money once they should be a reception , trying to remain safe from Covid-19.
The star took to Twitter in the week to criticize the government’s response to the pandemic, which has left them vulnerable still wanting to leave and collect grants.
“It hurts me to ascertain people lined up at the post office for his or her grants. I wish there was a far better solution to the matter,” she said.
She added that the struggles of the many South Africans just keep getting worse, with little remedy from those in power.
Unfortunately, convenience and dignity is something our government will never prioritize for the poor https://t.co/2lsRmLwGLu

“Our people just have suffered from suffering.”
She suggested that perhaps the govt should pay the grants into a recipient’s checking account, and people who receive their payments at the post office on different days.
It will be very difficult to change the distribution points from a security perspective. However the government could distribute the payment dates throughout the month to decrease the long ques.. just a thought. What do you think could assist ?
