Khaya’s return to our small screen is some things to celebrate especially following his dramatic Uzalo exit which left fans foaming at the mouth. chatting with ZAlebs last year about his departure from the show, he said it really hit him hard.
“The thing is with me leaving the show, I didn’t process it because I used to be n’t told I was leaving the show, so there was no time on behalf of me to digest that within the next three months I won’t get on this show because nobody said anything to me about not returning. Other actors were told that they will not be returning but I used to be not,” he said.
Khaya was reduced to a call actor on the show, but his future was skating on thin ice because Uzalo producers didn’t inform him when he is going to be needed to film his scenes. He said he has since moved on together with his life because he can’t twiddling my thumbs onto that.
“At the top of the day, there was no book or line in my life that said I might work for Uzalo and that I did there was no book that said I might stay Uzalo for 20 years. it had been one among those things that awaken and you would like to maneuver on and I am so glad because I needed that break, I feel everything happens for a reason.”
Khaya said he had an excellent work ethic on the show. “When I used to be abandoned on Uzalo, there was no reason to mention that perhaps I used to be troublesome, I used to be so professional, I wrote lines for GC, I prepped for everything and my scenes. People called and said I even have been fired. If I used to be like I’m not tired, I’m now a call actor, meanwhile, Khaya has been fired because it cannot happen that you simply put someone on standby for 1 year,” he said.
Khaya has since been specializing in his radio gig on Gagasi FM and he’s now engaged to Mercutio Buthelezi.
