Oskido bids farewell to his father with a painful smile

Award-winning house legend DJ Oskido has sadly announced the tragic passing of his father, Asaph Mdlongwa.

Taking to social media, the DJ shared a series of images together with his father and paid tribute to him. Oskido said his father succumbed to the novel coronavirus.

“It’s with great sadness to allow you to know that I even have lost my old man thanks to COVID19, an excellent man who inspired me to know the worth of life. goodbye Mandala, rest well. I will be able to see you again within the next lifetime. You’ve shown us how & shone the sunshine Akwehlanga lungehlang, His post was crammed with messages of condolences to him and his family following their loss,” he tweeted.

His post was crammed with messages of condolences from fans and celebs including DJ Black Coffee. Oskido’s friend DJ Fresh, also conveyed his condolences to the family and thanked his late father for giving the planet, Oskido.

“My friend and mentor @OskidoIBelieve has lost his Dad!! Please keep him and therefore the Mdlongwa family in your thoughts and prayers!!! Every single time we met, I might thank him for giving us Oskido, coz through him, 1000s of careers were forged!! #RipNtateMdlongwa.” he tweeted.

Milonga was a founding member of 1 of Zimbabwe’s opposition, the Movement for Democratic Change. He was also the party’s first organizing secretary.

MDC Alliance vice-president Welshman Ncube paid tribute to him, “One of the foremost inspiring & unassuming political leaders I had the respect & privilege to figure with within the MDC has departed to hitch his earlier departed compatriots & fellow nationalist unionist stalwarts, Morgan Tsvangirai, Gibson Sibanda, Fletcher Dulini & Isaac Matongo.”

“The giant of a person, Asaph Mdlongwa, the consummate nationalist unionist cum politician who was a mentor and a father figure to those folks whom he took under his protective wing departs this world when the country he loved so dearly is in great strife.”

He further expressed how heartbroken he’s following his death, “Heavy are our hearts those folks who know just how deeply concerned he was about the present state of our country. A lifelong struggle unfulfilled. Never has the condition of the working people been any worse. May you discover within the afterlife the peace you’ll not find in life.”

It is no secret that the Covid-19 pandemic has been wreaking havoc lately. many of us have succumbed to the virus since it hit SA. In June the show business was mourning the loss of PR extraordinaire, and music promoter Pheko Kgengoe, who succumbed to the virus.
