Phumeza Mdabe talks about the role of the state in suppressing gender-based violence.
The former Our Perfect Wedding host features a YouTube series together with her hubby on relationship and marriage issues and told her Instagram followers in the week that she gets tons of direct messages from fans posing for advice.
TV personality Phumeza Mdabe has joined the involves the govt to require firm action against gender-based violence. She said that she once got a message from a lady who was scared to go away from an abusive relationship.
We advised her to urge someone who is male from her side of the family to return and be there when she breaks the news then leave together with her to travel back home. Thank God she took action and everyone went well.”
She said that Wits college student Asithandile “Kwasa” Zozo wasn’t as lucky when she tried to go away.
The 20-year-old was stabbed to death within the Eastern Cape on Monday. The alleged killer was admitted to Butterworth Hospital after he allegedly overdosed on tablets and was discharged from hospital on Wednesday.
He was charged with murder and appeared in court on Thursday morning, where the matter was postponed to August 26 for further investigation. Phumeza asked what might be done to finish the scourge of femicide within the country and what it might deem the govt to require action.
“So now what must happen? Should we start demanding the execution be brought back in order that men who do that know there are serious consequences?! Like, kumele kwenzakaleni for our government to require action? God have mercy on us,” she added.
