Musicians Winnie Khumalo and her daughter Rethabile have begun to clear Prince Kaybee’s name after the deejay was accused by DJ TruMpeT of stealing a song called Isivunguvungu he had through with Rethabile.
The duo explained during a video clip that Prince Kaybee was just caught within the crossfire.
“We would really like to clear Prince Kaybee’s name. He had nothing to try to to with anything that went on,” Winnie said matter-of-factly.
She said her company Winnie K works with different producers and their strategy is to figure as an equal partnership.
“We go 50/50 during a song. You accompany your beat and that we accompany the lyrics and vocals. If we don’t agree we then part ways. You’ve got the proper as a producer to use your beat the way you wish. And we’ve got proper to use our lyrics and vocals the way we would like,” she said.
Winnie went on to accuse TruMpet of lacking knowledge of the workings of the music industry.
After not seeing eye to eye with TruMpet, the pair visited Prince Kaybee with their lyrics and vocals. they assert they didn’t use anything made by TruMpet on the newest version of the song in question.
The pair also took the prospect to apologize to Prince Kaybee and fans for the confusion.
